Selling and Retail Info
Where will my e-book be available for purchase?
EVERYWHERE . . . ALMOST
Once your e-book has been formatted, we’re here to help you distribute it to online retailers. We work with some of the largest online bookstores and distributors, and each partner maintains a very dynamic list within its network to ensure your e-book can reach a wide online audience.
During the final publishing process, you will have the opportunity to choose from a list of our distribution partners. In addition to the Booktango bookstore, you can select the entire list or only a select few online retailers and Booktango will take care of the rest. But, please understand that each channel or retailer reserves the right to refuse listing.
The wide range of major online retailers and distributors includes the following*:
- Amazon
- Apple*
- Barnes & Noble
- Books on Board
- Google
- Kobo
- Scribd
- Sony
* Retailers reserve the right to accept or deny content for availability.
*Apple doesn't support the following foreign languages in e-books:
Amharic
Arabic

When will my e-book show up in the online stores?
ABOUT ONE DAY TO FOUR WEEKS — GIVE OR TAKE
We have seen e-books appear on online retailer's sites in as little as one day, but it will likely take approximately two to four weeks after your book is formatted for your e-book to appear on retail websites. However, each retailer operates on a different schedule which we do not control. It could show up sooner, or it could take a little longer.

What exactly is on my Booktango personalized bookstore page?
VARIOUS ITEMS
As a published author, your title will have its own Web page in the Booktango bookstore. Anyone can visit the bookstore and purchase copies of your book. On your page we will display the front cover of your book, marketing copy and an excerpt from your book to entice potential book buyers. You select all the text you want displayed on this page.

Can I make changes to my e-book's bookstore marketing copy, such as the overview and about the author?
YES
You can update your e-book summary, free preview, about the author and genre. (To update your title, subtitle or author name, you'll need to create a new e-book.) Simply click the button to unlock your e-book in the Dashboard, make the change, and resubmit your e-book. The change will show up in online bookstores in one day to four weeks, depending on the retailer.

What is the difference between a channel or retail sale and a Booktango sale?
DIFFERENT ROYALTY
When a book is sold through the Booktango website, it is considered a Booktango sale. A retail, or "channel sale," is when the book is sold through any retailer other than Booktango (like Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com). Your book selling price must be the same for both Booktango and retail sales, but you will earn a different royalty amount depending on the type of sale. See the “How much royalty do I earn for each e-book I sell?” FAQ for more information on why this is true.

Can I update my e-book after it's published?
YES
Once your e-book is published, you can make changes to it by clicking the button to unlock the book on your Dashboard. You can make text corrections, tweak or overhaul your cover, or update your E-book Details (You cannot, however, update the title, subtitle or author name – if you want to do that, you'll need to start a new e-book. We also suggest publishing a new e-book if you are making significant changes to the text. See the FAQ below for details.)
Once you are finished making your changes, we'll resubmit your updated e-book to our Booktango bookstore as well as the other retailers you selected. The new version will replace the old in one day to four weeks time. (Be aware that the old version of your e-book will be cancelled, but the updated version will use the same ISBN.)
Also, if you unlock your book to edit and resubmit it and previously used an e-book formatting service, cover design or editing service, you'll need to purchase these services if you want us to perform the service(s) again.

When should I publish a new e-book vs. resubmit the current e-book?
RESUBMIT
Resubmitting your e-book will overwrite the current edition with the new version but keep the same ISBN. Resubmit your book if you'd like to:
- Update E-book Details, such as marketing copy about the book or author, or updating the genre
- Design a new cover
- Make minor text changes, such as fixing typos or a few updates here and there
- Change the price
PUBLISH NEW
Publishing a new e-book with a new ISBN signals to readers and retailers that it's a different version of your e-book. (If you want to remove the old version from circulation, you'll need to contact us to cancel the old version.) Publish a new book if you'd like to:
- Change the title and/or subtitle
- Change your author name
- Make substantial content changes
- Add a new feature, such as a preface, appendix or additional content

Why isn't my e-book in Apple's iBookstore?
VARIOUS REASONS
It can take up to three months for your book to appear in the iBookstore. If your book is still not available after that period of time, it is possible that Apple did not accept your content. Apple may choose to deny content due to typos, poor editing, poor formatting or subject matter.

How does my book get on the best-seller list?
BOOKTANGO BOOKSTORE SALES
Our best-seller list represents books sold during the previous one or two months on the Booktango bookstore. Books sold through another retailer, like Amazon or Barnes and Noble, aren't taken into account for this list.

Will I see my book on the New Releases list immediately after it's published?

Our new releases list is updated once a week. You can expect to see your newly published e-book on this list about a week after it's available for purchase through the Booktango bookstore.

How can I get my book featured on the main bookstore page?
IMPRESS US
Featured books, books we love, featured author and our noteworthy titles are chosen by us. We choose these books based on any number of factors, including the following: marketability of a book (the book cover, title, and content); author's platform or buzz; current events, seasons or themes; popularly of a title; or just because we like it. We don’t take requests or bribes, so create an impressive, marketable e-book, and you just might see it on the bookstore homepage.
